We have two Amish men who just
makes tables (along with help from family members), and we have twelve Amish men
that make chairs. A table can be made almost any way you want it made. We can
order special sizes, shapes, stains, legs, pedestals, etc. Just let us know what
you want by e-mail or calling and we will help you select the perfect table for
your room.
All of our single and double pedestal tables have a gear drive so that when a person opens one side, the other side opens an equal distance. It makes it much easier for one person to add leaves to the table. All the tables have what is called a 5/4's top. It starts out as 1 1/4" and ends up about 1" thick. Most furniture stores advertise a 1" top and that means that it starts out 1" and end up about 3/4" after it has been sanded and prepped. All of our tables have a conversion varnish finish that has a catalyst in it. A glass of water or pop could be spilled and let sit for two or three days; just wipe it off with a damp cloth. The manufacturer that makes the finish says we are never to use furniture polish on it because it clogs the pores in the wood. We would not recommend taking a pan from the stove and sitting it on the table directly. We have been told by the conversion varnish finish manufacturer that it is the hardest finish for wood after it has had ten days to cure. According to the brochure distributed by the manufacturer, a bottle of nail polish remover can be left to evaporate and it would have no effect. Tables are available in many different types of wood with a variety of stains. Please remember that cherry will darken or form it's own patina as it ages. Please see woods and stains available. |
