We have two Amish men who just makes tables (along with help from family members), and we have
twelve Amish men that make chairs. A table
can be made almost any way you want it made. We can order special sizes, shapes, stains, legs, pedestals,
etc. Just let us know what you want by e-mail or calling and we will try to help you. We can offer you
that personal touch if you will think about what you want and then e-mail or call us.
All of our single and double pedestal tables have a gear drive so that when a person opens one side, the other side opens an equal distance. It makes it much easier for one person to add leaves to the table. All the tables have what is called a 5/4's top. It starts out as 1” & 1/4" and ends up about 1" thick. A furniture store that advertises a 1" top means that it starts out 1" and end up about 3/4". All of our tables have a conversion varnish finish that has a catalyst in it. A glass of pop could be spilled and let sit for two or three days; just wipe it off with a damp cloth. The company that makes the finish says we are never to use furniture polish on it because it clogs the pores in the wood. We would not recommend taking a pan from the stove and sitting it on the table directly, but we would not do that with Formica or glass either. We have been told by many people that it is the hardest finish for wood after it has had ten days to cure. According to the brochure distributed by the company that makes the conversion varnish finish the Amish men use, a bottle of nail polish remover left to evaporate would have no effect. Tables are available in oak, cherry, maple, or hickory with a variety of stains. Please remember that cherry will darken or form it's own patina as it ages. Please see woods and stains available. Also, please remember that sap wood is a very real part of cherry wood, and will possibly appear in some of your furniture. That is real wood! |
